2019 Workshop – The Mediterranean Diet and cardiovascular health: from research to culinary strategy

For the third year in a row, the Healthy Kitchens, Healthy Lives conference, led by two prestigious, globally renowned institutions: the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Culinary Institute of America, will once again highlight the Mediterranean Diet as one of the healthiest, most balanced, and easiest to follow eating patterns for the entire population. The California campus of the Culinary Institute of America is hosting a workshop called “The Mediterranean Diet and cardiovascular health: from research to culinary strategy,” led by the epidemiologist Miguel Ángel Martínez, a collaborator with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He will analyze how the use of extra virgin olive oil as the main source of fat helps make the Mediterranean Diet one of the healthiest diets, and one that is especially indicated for preventing cardiovascular disease. The workshop will be accompanied by a culinary demonstration led by Spanish chef Daniel Olivella.
